Making ginger beer with no recipe may not be the best way to go!
I put down 4 bottles the day before yesterday and i was really impatient as usual and didn’t want to go through the rigmarole of it all and haven’t got a plant at the moment. So, started with a bowl of tepid water with a “bit” of sugar and a big “sprinkle” of yeast, 3 x 1.5 and one 2.25 litre plastic bottles, made them up with “some”sugar, lemon juice (from a bottle as i have no luck with growing lemon trees) and water then added the yeasty mix. Done.
The first one went into the sink with warm water and after a few hours i drank it, not ready but still yum, had one yesterday out of the hot water cupboard it was getting there, today though i am struggling to open a bottle with all the fizzing going on i can’t even get the lid off.
That will teach me not to use a recipe?!
